Cosy Community Hub

The Travellers Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting Traveller communities, reached out to us at Wrapt Homes for help with their community hub — a vital space used for meetings, social gatherings, and support services. Like many older buildings, it was draughty, poorly insulated, and struggled with inefficient heating, resulting in high energy costs and an unwelcoming environment for visitors and staff.

Wrapt Homes began by conducting a site visit of the hub working together with the team and together we identified a plan to tackle deliver a maximum upgrades with the available budget, this included:

  • Internal Wall and roof insulation in the Kitchen - This was a space that was preciously too cold to use regularly throughout the year.

  • Draught‐proofing around windows and doors - We carried out draughproofing measures across the ground floor.

  • LED Lighting upgrades - To help futher reduce energy bills we upgraded lights to LED’s in co-ordination with the insulation works.

Natural Mateials:

The building is over 120 years old and full of character. It has solid brick walls so we opted to use natural wood fibre insulation to maintain the breathability and prevent damp in the walls.

Working to keep the centre open

The wrapt team co-ordinated works around the program at the centre allowing it to keep its doors open and continue as normal.

They carried out the works, improving comfort for use by our clients and groups, and reducing the high costs of running our large, historic community centre.
